Manaus, Brazil - February 2025 - On 1 and 2 February, Salesians in formation from the Salesian Province of Manaus, Brazil (BMA) took part in the meeting on the theme ‘We are young Salesian missionaries of the Amazon’. Fr José Ivanildo, Fr Giustino Sarmento, Bishop Vanthuy Neto, Bishop of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Fr Reginaldo Cordeiro and Fr Rafael Galvão (BSP) collaborated in the event, which took place in presence and online. The theme helped the participants in the missionary reflection that prepares the BMA provinces for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition and the 100th anniversary of the Prelature of Rio Negro, where the Salesians were pioneers and still work today. Following the suggestion of the BMA Provincials, Fr Felipe Bauzière, the work was carried out in groups and personal meditations in keeping with the theme.
