Brazil - Salesian works from the Northeast honour the finale of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival
Recife, Brazil – October 2024 - Last week, on 17 and 18 October, Salesian houses in the St Aloysius Gonzaga Province of Recife, Brazil (BRE), participated in the finale of the third edition of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF). The final was held at the Loreto Theatre at the Sheen Center in New York. At times when the children and young people came together, such as for a "good morning" or "good night" the collaborators were the key players in the film screenings. Following the screenings, the theme of the third edition of the DBGYFF "I Have a Dream - Youth and climate change - Making Mother Earth cleaner and greener", gave rise to conversations which offered rich and significant exchanges. The beneficiaries immersed themselves in the stories and cultural diversity represented on the screen, absorbing messages that overflowed with the need to take care of our planet. The screening of the short films has shown that connecting young people from different parts of the world on issues such as climate change and environmental protection is a powerful educational tool. DBGYFF has shown once again that, through cinema and youth involvement it is possible to cultivate values of solidarity, inclusion and love, strengthening the Salesian identity and inspiring the new generations to fight for a more sustainable future.
