On Friday the 13th, accompanied by the Superior of MEM, Fr Ignacio Ocampo Uribe, the Vicar of the Rector Major met in Puebla, in the San Miguel Arcángel Community (formerly the Juan Ponce de León Institute and Aspirantate) with 22 Salesians from various presences of this Salesian Province, to preside over the Consultations for the appointment of the next Superior of MEM.
After the fraternal greetings, Fr Ocampo introduced the current state of the Province under his guidance; this ended with the phase of individual votes, during which each Salesian provided 3 names of possible candidates to fill the role of Superior of MEM for the next six years.
Fr Martoglio then presided at the community Eucharist and the day ended with a fraternal agape.
After thanking the Puebla community for the exquisite hospitality, the following day Fr Martoglio went to the national capital, Mexico City, and, in the afternoon, went to the Shrine and Parish of Mary Help of Christians, where, inside the Pastoral Services Auditorium he met the Salesian Family of Southern Mexico. Joining him in this circumstance were both Fr Ignacio Ocampo Uribe, MEM Provincial, and Sister Margarita Chavarría Primavera, Superior of the corresponding Province of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (MME).
After greeting the provincial coordinators and representatives of each branch and/or group of the Salesian Family, Fr Martoglio focused his address on the fact that the Salesian Family is the clear and distinct expression of the essential part of the Salesian charism.
Then, at the end of the day, and following the Independence Day of the country the following day, another evening of celebration was organised, with a typical dinner and Salesian goodnight, and the blessing by Fr Martoglio.
