Poland – Preparatory visit of "Don Bosco Tech Europe" to the Province of Warsaw, Poland

18 June 2024

(ANS – Warsaw) – Mission to Poland for "Don Bosco Tech Europe APS", the Social Promotion Association that coordinates Salesian Vocational Training in the Old Continent. The leadership of the institution recently conducted a preparatory visit to the Salesian Saint Stanislaus Kotska Province of Warsaw, Poland (PLE). The main objective of this visit was to lay the foundations for future European projects aimed at promoting the mobility of students, apprentices and staff within the Salesian educational context.

Europe is going through a phase of transformation in which education and vocational training play and will increasingly play an essential role.

The mobility of students and apprentices is considered a strategic lever to improve their skills, increase their employability and promote active European citizenship.

In this scenario, DB Tech Europe APS stands as a key player, facilitating projects that connect different educational institutions across Europe.

DB Tech Europe's visit to the PLE Province was, therefore, an essential step to strengthen this network and promote even closer cooperation between the various Salesian educational bodies.

The trip to Poland took Dr Piero Fabris, Executive Director of "Don Bosco Tech Europe" to visit the Vocational Training Centres (VET Centres) in Łódź and Rozanystok, where he had the opportunity to closely observe the passionate and innovative work carried out by the Salesians and the laity.

The CFP in Łódź is one of the most brilliant examples of how the Salesian tradition can integrate with modern technology. During his visit, Dr Fabris was welcomed by a team of highly motivated educators, who illustrated the various training programs offered by the centre. These programs range from mechanics to electronics, passing through computer science and industrial automation.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Łódź centre is the integration of the most advanced technologies into the educational curriculum . Suffice it to say that some classes of the Salesian VTC are located in the buildings of the Polytechnic University, an established reality with which the Salesians share laboratories and teachers. Students have access to modernly equipped laboratories, where they can practice with state-of-the-art machinery and innovative software. This combination of theory and practice prepares students to competently face the challenges of the contemporary labour market.

The second stage of the mission was Rozanystok, a town that, although more peripheral than Łódź, represents a real jewel in the panorama of Salesian education.

The VTC in Rozanystok is a perfect example of how tradition can coexist with modernity.

Located in a more rural context, this centre has developed a strong link with the territory and its traditions. However, this did not stop the Salesians of Rozanystok from embracing innovation. In fact, the centre is equipped with agricultural, mechanical and information technology laboratories, where students can acquire practical and applicable skills in different sectors.

The Executive Director of Don Bosco Tech Europe was particularly impressed by the community approach he found in Rozanystok. A reality in which education is seen as a collective activity, where every member of the community – from teachers to students, up to parents – is involved in the educational process. This approach not only fosters a collaborative learning environment, but also strengthens social bonds and promotes a sense of belonging and shared responsibility, with a particular focus on children with special needs or difficult pasts.

“The energy and passion found during the mission are the testimony of a shared commitment that goes beyond every border, and that aims to build a better future for new generations through education and training" Dr Fabris commented in conclusion. "Waiting to visit the other Polish Provinces, a heartfelt thank you to the colleagues of PLE."
