Spain – A dream cast gives life to the musical "Sueños, el Musical"

31 January 2024

(ANS - Madrid) - "It's the funniest musical I've ever done, because it has so much humour". This is how Toño Casado described "Sueños, el Musical", his new work, presented yesterday morning to the press in Madrid. The author of musicals such as "33" and "Viacrucis" has assured people that the new musical offers "captivating songs and an exciting staging". The result is "a musical that makes you laugh and cry, a roller coaster of emotions", he acknowledged.

The presentation was attended by most of the actors who are part of the cast of the musical, "a smaller cast than at other times, because they are thinking very actively and very surprisingly about the staging," explains Toño Casado.

This group of artists, with experience in great musical shows, consists of Adrián Salzedo, Jorge González, Inma Mira, María Virumbrales, Jordi Garreta, Marco Gay, Laureano Ramírez, Ana Saavedra, Allende Blanco and Santiago Cano.

"We have a team of 10 people" said Silvia Fiestas, Production Director and Executive Producer of the musical, highlighting the work of the cast and creative team producing "Sueños, el Musical". Fiestas then thanked the Salesians "for wanting to explain this story so that it can reach as many people as possible". At the same time, Toño Casado underlined the professional and human quality of the entire group.

"The Salesians are celebrating young John Bosco's childhood dream, which brought us here," explained Fr Xabier Camino, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry in St James the Greater Province (SSM) in Spain. The bicentenary of the Dream inspired this new musical about the holy founder of the Salesian Congregation which, as Fr Camino remarked, wants to "tell and sing the story of Don Bosco and urge many people to follow his dreams, because we need a lot of hope."

The musical is also sponsored by llusionist Jorge Blass, who surprised the audience with a magic trick. “It's a great honour to be here. We illusionists celebrate Don Bosco, our patron saint" said Blass. "This musical comes at the right time. Don Bosco's message is more than ever necessary to inspire children and young people and also to awaken adults and make them dream."

In "Sueños, el Musical" a fun circus company tells the story of young John Bosco, a humble boy from a village in northern Italy in the nineteenth century, who at the age of nine had a dream that marked his destiny. He becomes a priest, magician and a very special acrobat who, with the help of the "Lady of the Trapeze" and Mamma Margaret, lives exciting and fun adventures.

"Sueños, el Musical" will open on 14 April at the Salesianos Paseo Theatre in Madrid and will run until 5 May. Tickets can be purchased through the website suenoselmusical.es
