Fr Silvio, born in 1970 and originally from Feltre, came to know the Salesian world at Castello di Godego (TV) and experienced vocational discernment in the "Comunità proposta! (live-in experience) at Mogliano Veneto. A Salesian since 1990, he was ordained a priest on 2 May 1998 in Pordenone, and in 2000 he obtained a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome.
Later, he was first in charge of the oratory of San Donà di Piave (VE) and then the oratory in Pordenone. He was subsequently appointed Rector of the house (2009-2014).
He served the INE Province as Provincial Councillor (2012-2020) and as YM Delegate (2014-2020). During this service, for 2 years he was the national head of the Parish and Oratory Office Since 2020 he has been Rector of the Salesian Work in Mestre.
"Dear Fr Silvio, we assure you of our prayer for this task of animation and governance that the Congregation has entrusted to you for the good of the young people, the confreres and those who collaborate in the Salesian mission in our INE Province. Our Constitutions give us the certainty that Our Lady accompanies us and is our teacher: ‘Mary Immaculate, Help of Christians leads us to the fullness of our offering to the Lord and gives us courage for the service of our brethren (C. 92)’. We entrust you to her " is the message published by the current INE Superior, Fr Igino Biffi, who will be succeeded by Fr Zanchetta at the end of next summer.
