"It is a Strenna which is proposed to rekindle the dream that God has for each one of us. A dream, a sign of his call and his love, for all the members of the Salesian Family on the second centenary of the dream that John Bosco had at Becchi and left us the same in written form in his Memoirs of the Oratory," remarked Don Joan Lluís Playà, Rector Major's Delegate for the Secretariate of the Salesian Family. The Dream that will unify all reflections during these days of the Spirituality Days, now in its 42nd edition, and as emphasized by Fr. Playà, aims to "celebrate the profound communion that exists among all groups across all continents, and which nourishes our common spirituality in service of the mission."
As in recent years, the event will be attended by around 370 people at Turin, and some important moments of the programme will also be streamed live, with simultaneous translation into four languages, facilitating a truly global participation.
After the welcome and registration of the participants at Valdocco in the morning, the official opening of GSFS2024 is scheduled in the early afternoon of Thursday, 18 January 2024. Beginning with words of introduction and welcome to all, the presentation of the Strenna by Card. Ángel Fernández Artime will follow thereafter. The day will be completed with the Mass in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians and after dinner, conclude with the traditional "goodnight" talk in the basilica.
Friday, 19th January, will be dedicated to the deepening of the crux of the Strenna. It will begin with the Lauds prayed in common and the morning programme will feature a round table discussion with several experts such as: Fr Bruno Ferrero, Director of the Salesian Bulletin; Fr Rafael Bejarano, of the Salesian Youth Pastoral Sector; Ms Emilde Cuda and Ms Blazka Merkac. Mr Tullio Lucca will moderate the proceedings. After a time of direct dialogue with the speakers, in the afternoon, there will be visits to Salesian places, followed by a moment of sharing in various groups based on the presentations in the morning and the concelebrated Eucharist will follow. The day will end with the Eucharistic adoration in the Basilica.
The focus of the morning of Saturday, 20th January will be on shared youth experiences, on the theme: “Dreams which came True!” After the morning Mass, several testimonials from various personalities from different realities around the world and from various groups of the Salesian Family who are samples of a successful Salesian education, will be presented. The same theme will be explored in the afternoon group discussions. A family circle will close the day, animated by the Salesian Novices from Colle Don Bosco, Becchi, which will also be dedicated to congratulate and thank Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, as this will be the last time he will participate in these Salesian Family Days as the Rector Major.
The last day, Sunday, 21st January, will be to highlight future prospects and plans, and will have as its theme: 'The dream continues'. It will begin with Lauds and proceed with the final Mass in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians. After mass, another round of group discussions will follow culminating in an assembly presentation and the final moments of conclusion.
The world level moments of the programme will be broadcast live on the ANS YouTube channel, in five languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese) according to the programme that is attached.
