In the summer of 1859 the number of young people taken in at the Valdocco Oratory continued to increase and so did the need for new classrooms to house them.

Already in 1856 Don Bosco had built a triangular-shaped room with only a ground floor, in which he made two classrooms and a small room for the porter. Then, at the beginning of 1857 the construction of the primary classrooms began, entrusted to young master-builder Rossi Giacomo from Foglizzo.

Then, in order to accommodate all the secondary school classes in Valdocco, when he had teachers of his own Don Bosco had to provide new classrooms. In the summer of 1859 he entrusted the contractor Giovenale Delponte with the task of building a shed against the boundary wall in the north courtyard and had it divided into three spacious classrooms.

At the same time, next to the new shed, further to the right, the roof of the wash-house was demolished and a laundry room with adjoining woodshed was built (cf. MB 6, 266). These two buildings were demolished in 1873.
