Campinas, Brazil - November 2023 - The Installation ceremony for the new Superior of the Salesian Province of Brazil-Sao Paulo, Fr Alexandre Luis de Oliveira, was held on 25 November in the parish of Our Lady Help of Christians in Campinas: The Mass was presided over by Fr Ricardo Castro, president of CISBRASIL and vice-president of the RSB, on behalf of the Rector Major. Present at the ceremony were Bishop Antônio Carlos Altieri, SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Passo Fundo; Bishop Antônio de Assis Ribeiro, SDB, Auxiliary Bishop of Belém; Bishop Tarcisio Scaramussa, SDB, Bishop of Santos; Bishop Mario Michiaki Yamanouchi, SDB, Bishop of Saitama, (Japan) and numerous Salesians from various regions and especially from the BSP Province. To mark the handover, Fr Justo Ernesto Piccinini, former BSP Provincial, through a symbolic gesture, gave Fr Alexandre Luis de Oliveira an image of Our Lady Help of Christians, underlining that it is She who accompanies all the Provincials who have already undertaken this mission.
