During this meeting, the participants were trained in Basic Journalism, and key issues in Youth Ministry and Communication were discussed. This was the first meeting of these sectors since the erection of the new Province consisting of Kenya, South Sudan and Sudan. It brought together Fifteen participants representing each community in Kenya.
In his opening remarks, the vice-provincial said, “We are here for the core of our Mission, the Youth”.
The Community Coordinators had interactive and informative sessions that empowered them to understand their roles in both Commissions in the Province. The topics discussed were the Salesian Strategic Educative Pastoral Plan (SSEPP), Vocation Culture, Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), Dream Year 2024, Non-formal Youth Ministry and Oratories and Youth Centres, updates on communication from Rome and Journalistic writing techniques.
In the meeting, emerging discussion points were analysed, including implementation, coordination of activities, continuity and animation in general, and recommendations were made. Discussions ended on a high note, with the Community Coordinators developing practical implementation plans inspired by the facilitators' informative input.
In his final remarks, Fr Provincial emphasised, “All our works are Youth Ministry, and we are all Youth Ministers”. He also thanked for the good works being done by the commissions and encouraged close collaboration between the Council, Rectors, and Commissions for a successful Ministry.
