Uganda - Annual Meeting of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco

25 October 2023

Bombo, Uganda - October 2023 - On 8 October, Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco in Uganda gathered at the Salesian community of Bombo for their Annual General Body meeting. During the meeting, the members discussed the importance of unity and shared good examples of life in terms of the identity of the Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco in their communities. During this meeting, two new projects were proposed to be implemented during the coming year. The first project is to educate students in good hygiene practices and provide them with reusable sanitary uniforms. Members have committed themselves to it and a committee has been set up to oversee the activities and mobilization of resources for it. Another project is to build a canopy to facilitate students' lunch when it rains or is too hot. During the meeting, GEX councillor Ssemambo Joseph read the address of the President of the World Confederation of Past Pupils, Bryan Magro, who congratulated the Ugandan federation for the work done over the past three years and invited them to participate in the next World Extraordinary General Assembly in 2024. He urged them 'not to be afraid to change where change is necessary and in line with our charism, our values, our identity, our spirituality, and our mission. If we want to be a meaningful organization in the 21st century, we must change and adapt to the realities of today and remain faithful to the goals and mission of our organization".
