Hanoi, Vietnam - October 2023 - Salesians of the North Vietnamese delegation from their four communities in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces gathered on 13 October for their quarterly recollection. In his opening address, Fr John Vinh, the animator presented the theme: "Holiness in Salesian life", by citing the letter of Fr Pascual Chávez Villanueva, Rector Major, published in 2002 which was entitled "Dear Confreres, Be Holy!". He recalled how holiness, for Salesians, "is built in the daily response, as an expression and fruit of the mysticism and asceticism of 'da mihi animas caetera tolle'". Thereafter, the Eucharist was celebrated and Fr John Cuong, in his homily, quoted the Salesian Constitutions to remind those present of their union with God and their commitment to work for young people. The meeting concluded with a moment of sharing and fraternity, in the hope that Don Bosco's dream will continue to spread throughout the world and particularly in North Vietnam.
