Malawi – “My achievement is not merely mine”. The story of Edna

12 October 2016

(ANS – Lilongwe) – Edna from Malawi proudly says that he is achieving a lot in his career. “In everything I do, whatever award I get… is not just me, but it also goes to DON BOSCO,” said Edna Chimpeni. This young employee in World Bank Malawi is a past pupil of Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute, Lilongwe, Malawi. He studied the IT course from this institution. “Wherever I go, and whatever I achieve,” Edna proudly mentioned, “all these happened only because of this institution.”

Immediately after completing his studies, Edna worked for a communication and consultancy company and got a recognition award. Later, he joined ‘Mara-ison Technologies’ and was in the helpdesk IT support in Airtel Call Centre. Currently he is in WORLD BANK, as an IT Support Specialist.  Here, he bagged an award in 2014, SPORT AWARD – The Best Young Employee and in 2015 CLIENT SERVICE DELIVERY AWARD.

He indicated that he achieved a lot in Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute not only academically, but also spiritually, physically and mentally. “Don Bosco not only teaches academics, but concentrates on physical and spiritual wellbeing.”  He said that hard work, vision, honesty and duty are the guiding stones in his life. The motto of the Institution is “Hard Work and Vision.”

And this has rightly created an impact on this young man and all those who are studying in this technical college. As a matter of fact, this institution has received “The Century International Quality Era Award” in the Gold Category.

Don Bosco Technical College was to receive also the following awards:

1.     Certificate of Quality Award

3.     QC100 points TQM (Total Quality Management) model

4.     Statement of Commitment to the TQM QC100 principles.

5.     BID Quality Mix Program for 2 years

“We congratulate Fr Michael Mbandama, the Principal, and the confreres of Salesian community in Lilongwe, the staff and students of Don Bosco Technical College for this remarkable achievement. No wonder youths like Edna Chimpeni perform well in their field of work; it is all because of the qualitative presence of Don Bosco in Malawi” say the Salesians of the Zambia-Zimbabwe-Namibia-Malawi Vice-Province.

“These successful young people are the true living awards of whom we are truly proud” they conclude.
