Vietnam - The Don Bosco Volunteer Group at work for disadvantaged children and young people in Tac Van
Tac Van, Vietnam - September 2023 - A volunteer period in Vietnam for the Don Bosco Volunteer Group (DBVG) team of eleven Japanese students and workers ended on 11 September. The DBGV had the opportunity to volunteer in the city of Tac Van, Camau, located in the southern part of Vietnam, from 28 August to 11 September. The objective during these two weeks was to bring support to disadvantaged young people and children and to improve the learning environment. Thus, the classrooms in which these young people study were cleaned and painted and the toilets were fixed. In addition, the DBGV organised sports and recreational activities to foster interaction and involved the young people in typical Japanese games and dances, as well as Japanese cooking classes. Every day, at the end of the activities, they gathered with the local community to attend Mass and pray together. At the end of the experience, the DBVG thanked all the benefactors who had supported them from Japan, the Vietnam Province and the entire provincial house, and the communities of Tac Van, Ben Cat and Tan Cang.
