08 July 2022

Cochabamba, Bolivia - June 2022 - On June 30 at the Salesian Work "Don Bosco - Fátima," a meeting of the Provincial Commission for the Environment (CIMA) of the Salesian Province of Bolivia (BOL) was held; its aim: developing interventions, Provincial directives, formation processes, field initiatives in favor of the environment and working in a network. With this in mind, it was possible to consolidate the committee and start a diagnostic process. Heading this commission are: the Delegate for Youth Ministry, the person in charge of education, the Salesian University of Bolivia, the communications office, a representative of the Vocational Training Centers, a representative of the youth of the SYM and the UPB. Together they will work to identify problems and build a pilot document. In a time of reflection and sharing of various perspectives and experiences, it was possible to see the problem of the environment in the BOL province, what factors affect this issue, what actions the province carries out in relation to the environment, and what it could do. A number of key players, internally and externally, who are experts in environmental issues, have been identified, which will lead to strengthening both training and Provincial interventions and guidelines. The 16 Salesian works, starting with a pilot project in educational settings, will be able to implement processes in favor of the environment, not only at the level of mentality but also at the level of awareness in intervention.
