In 1867 Don Bosco dedicated a side altar, the first on the left, to the Sacred Hearts of Mary and Jesus; a few years later, in 1891, Fr Rua changed the title and dedicated it to St Francis de Sales and recently it was dedicated to St Domenico Savio.
Don Bosco entrusted the construction of the first altarpiece to Giovanni Battista Bonetti, but Bonetti's canvas remained on the altar for just a short time. In 1898, Fr Michele Rua 'sent' it to the recently founded institute of Caserta.
In 1896 Fr Rua changed the title of the environment and dedicated it to Saint Francis de Sales, patron saint of the Salesians, entrusting the execution of the new altar to Crescentino Caselli.
The third change took place in 1956, when, with the canonization of St Domenico Savio, this altar was chosen and the altarpiece was entrusted to the painter Crida.
