Buterere, Burundi - January 2022 - The "Star Singers" are a group of children committed to child missions and missionaries, also known as the Pontifical Work of Holy Childhood, founded in 1843 by Msgr. Forbin-Janson, Bishop of Nancy (France), with the intent of awakening the missionary spirit in children and adolescents. The "Star Singers" share their faith, prayer and collection of offerings to help the most needy children. Their motto embodies their mission: "Children help children, children evangelize children". As per tradition, after the Christmas party, the "Star Singers" of the parish "St. John Paul II" of Buterere, accompanied by their animators, guided by the symbol of the star and with a lively animation of Christmas carols, went to announce the Good News to families, collecting aid for other children in need. This activity ended on the day of Epiphany with a solemn Mass at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Buterere, presided over by the parish priest of the "St. John Paul II" church, Fr Henri Bakishimira, in the presence of over 1,200 children, accompanied by a party at the "Don Bosco Youth City".
