He was warmly welcomed by the young people and by various lay collaborators of the Salesians of the two communities. Confiding in Jambo Vijana, the youth newspaper of the Salesian works in that region, Fr Martoglio said he was very satisfied with the great work done by the Salesians of Don Bosco in favor of young people in the three houses he had visited so far (Ngangi, Bukavu and Nyakadaka), and he invited the young people to see in the Salesians the heart of Don Bosco and that of God. And, in conclusion, he remarked that the presence of the Salesians in that region represented a blessing from God.
At the Salesian house of Bukavu, he met the members of the local Salesian Family and celebrated a Mass with them. Commenting on the Gospel of the day, and illustrating the biblical parable of the ten lepers healed by Jesus, of whom only one returned to Jesus to thank him for his healing, the Fr. Martoglio invited everyone to be grateful in life and not to forget all the blessings that God offers them, through so many people and situations.
Later in the evening, accompanied by Fr Tryphon Kalimira, the Vice Provincial of the AFC Province, Fr Aurélien Mukangwa, the Superior of the AFC East Delegation, Fr Piero Gavioli and Fr Justin Kamwira, from the Salesian community of Bukavu, he visited the city’s archbishop, Most Rev. François-Xavier Maroyi. On this occasion, Fr. Martoglio thanked the archbishop for his fraternal collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco who work in his ecclesiastical jurisdiction.
Today, Thursday 11 November 2021, the program of Fr Martoglio's visit includes a meeting with all the Salesians of Don Bosco from the communities of Bukavu, Nyakadaka and Uvira.
