Coimbatore, India - September 2021 - The students of the "Don Bosco School of Excellence", belonging to the Tiruchy Province (INT), planted 2,000 native trees to give life to a new dense forest according to the Miyawaki method. The activity was made to celebrate the "Season of Creation" under the motto: "A home for everyone? Renew the Oikos of God". The Councilor for the South Asia Region, Fr Biju Michael, was the main guest of this initiative, together with Mr. Sivakumar, national leader of the Green Movement. Before proceeding with the planting of trees in the so-called "Eco Space" of the Don Bosco Campus, Fr Biju Michael presented the book "We are a green school", which illustrates the school's ecological policy, and delivered it to the student leaders Ifa and Isaac. The Rector of the "Don Bosco School of Excellence", Fr Ricopar Royan, spoke about the vital role of young people in protecting the environment and explained how the five priorities of ecological policy emerged through the school's "eco clubs", which are : environmental education, increasing green coverage, natural resource management, waste management and ecological lifestyle.
