Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councilor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, explained, in a video, the clear importance of social communication in Salesian Pastoral Care, more particularly for the Africa-Madagascar Region. Fr Manolo Jiménez, Superior of the Vice Province of Africa Congo Congo and Superior-Companion of Communications in the Region, did not hesitate to praise this initiative which, without a doubt, will help the Provinces to communicate better and more effectively.
Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, in his introductory and welcome speech, took the opportunity to deepen and share his reflections on the anthropological and Biblical dimension of communication.
About 55 of the 65 members participated in this first meeting. It was coordinated by Fr Rigobert Fumtchum, Regional Coordinator for Social Communication. All the Provinces and Delegations of the Region were represented and, moreover, it is worth remembering that the Salesian Province of Haiti also joined this group.
Participants in the School of Communication will not only strengthen their skills but also have the opportunity to learn from the experiences of other Provinces in this sector. Many of the Provincial Delegates, in introducing themselves to the participants, expressed their enthusiasm to have their respective Provinces participate in such a formation initiative in the field of social communication.
