Papua New Guinea - Formation in the Mission
East Boroko, Papua New Guinea - April 2021 - On April 16, Salesian trainees from the Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands Vice Province (PGS) participated in a seminar on "Formation in the Mission, Formation in the Community." The seminar was organized by Fr Pedro Sachitula, SDB, and Fr Shoji Mathew, SDB, members of the formation committee. Fr Gregorio Bicomong, PGS Superior, spoke with a brief message. During the first part of the day, the fourth program guidelines of the Rector Major after GC28 "Formation to be Salesian Pastors Today" was deepened; the eighth video-seed of the Formation Department was then viewed; and other resources came from the article "Missio inter Gentes," by Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councilor for the Missions, and Pope Francis' message to GC28. After everyone shared their internship experience, the focus in the second part of the seminar was on human formation, and more specifically on how to manage oneself and relate well with other Salesians and lay co-responsible in the mission in moments of tension.
