To make the Salesian charismatic identity live in a creative way and to follow the Rector Major's invitation to be good Christians and upright citizens in all times and circumstances, the Oratories and Youth Centers were reinvented and the young people managed to, however, organize the meetings that traditionally take place when summer arrives. The "Valdocco Operation" focused on four areas to promote the integrity of the proposals:
1) have fun and learn;
2) be formed to grow and develop;
3) celebrate life in faith;
4) to commit to the common home, in solidarity with the poor.
Also, during the "Valdocco Operation", various activities were created, such as the Salesian Art Camp on the Net, various online workshops and a Reality Show, with the aim of allowing young people to compete in a healthy fashion on the topics of Salesian life and general culture.
The young people welcomed the commitment to the common home in solidarity with the poor, so much so that they went to the homes of poor people with limited means as regards subsistence and offered them solidarity, delivered food and protective equipment.
The "Valdocco Operation" marks an important challenge to restart the educational pastoral year, adapting it to life in these times of pandemic. These times are also the opportunity to find new answers, seeking in them new ways to evangelize and to carry out our mission, just as Don Bosco did.
