Hosted at Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, the final day of this transformative event profoundly reflected the values and mission of the Salesian community, leaving participants inspired and renewed.
(ANS - Rome) – The Salesian Congregation extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Eminence Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime on his recent appointment as Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (DIVCSVA). This announcement was made by the Vatican Press Office yesterday, January 6, 2025, the Solemnity of the Epiphany. With a decade of distinguished service as Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Cardinal Fernández Artime has demonstrated exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Church and the Salesian community. In light of his new role, he shared his thoughts with ANS.
Kigali, Rwanda – January 2025 – On 1 January, the members of the Salesian Family from the Africa Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL), celebrated the feast of Strenna 2025 by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio on the theme "Anchored in hope, pilgrims with young people". The Mass was presided over by the Superior of the AGL Vice-Province, Fr Gabriel Ngendakuriyo. The event took place in the Salesian work of Gatenga, with the presentation of Strenna 2025 by Fr Henri Bakishimira, SDB. At the end of the Mass, the festive program continued with lunch, songs, dances, and the presentation of the groups of the Salesian Family that work in the AGL Vice-Province. Fr Gabriel Ngendakuriyo delivered the closing speech and imparted a blessing to the participants.
Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo – January 2025 – On 5 January, the Salesian Family of the Province of Central Africa (AFC) celebrated the Day of Strenna 2025 by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, entitled "Anchored in hope, pilgrims with young people". The event was attended by over 750 people, led by Fr Guillermo Basañes, AFC Provincial and Sister Clarisse Ngoy, FMA Provincial, with the report by Fr Césaire Ilowa. The program was full of activities involving all the Salesian Family Groups.
