(ANS – Gambia) – The Don Bosco 2000 Association expands its commitment in Africa with the launch of the Beteya Guinar project in the Gambia, after the positive results obtained in Tambacounda, Senegal. Thanks to the support of the Fondazione Opera Don Bosco Onlus in Milan and Opera Don Bosco nel Mondo in Lugano, the project aims to promote sustainable economic development and job opportunities for young Africans.
(ANS – Rome) – Just a few days ago, the Holy Father, opening the Holy Door, began the Jubilee, a time of grace and renewal for the whole Church. On this important occasion for the whole Church, the World Coordinator of the Association of Salesian Cooperators, Antonio Boccia, sent a message with a powerful exhortation "to live the Salesian apostolic vocation in the world as lay people committed to bringing the light of Christ into society by embodying the Salesian charism".
Rango, Rwanda – December 2024 – A Formation Session for Salesian Practical Trainees from Africa Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL) and the AFC-EST Delegation took place at the Don Bosco Rango spiritual centre from the evening of Thursday 26 December to the morning of Monday 30 December 2024. The theme of the meeting, embellished by the presence of Fr Gabriel Ngendakuriyo, Superior AGL, was: "Go and make disciples of all young people". After numerous addresses and conferences, the participants also had the opportunity to go on pilgrimage to the place of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, in Kibeho. The concluding evening was then enlivened by a series of performances staged by the Practical Trainees. Finally, on the morning of 30 December, the Mass presided over by Fr Frédéric Murindangabo marked the official end of this Formation session.
Tigaraksa, Indonesia – December 2024 – The Salesians and the Salesian Family in Indonesia celebrated Christmas 2024 together and welcomed the new year 2025. The celebration was held at the Salesian Novitiate Community of Don Bosco, in Tigaraksa, Tangerang, on 28 December 2024. The series of Christmas celebrations began with a conference by Fr Vincentius Prastowo, Superior of the Salesian Vice-Province of Indonesia (INA), who spoke with those present about Strenna 2025. Ample space was then given to the 150th anniversary of the sending of the first missionaries to Argentina and the beginning of the Jubilee Year. The conference was followed by a Eucharistic celebration in the chapel at the Salesian Novitiate in Tigaraksa and by listening to the testimony of Fr Noel Villafuerte, a Filipino missionary in Indonesia. The day ended with a shared meal and some artistic shows from groups of the Salesian Family.
