01. Brasilia, Brazil - August 2022 - During his visit to the "St. John Bosco" Province of Belo Horizonte, to commemorate its 75th anniversary, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime actively participated in the 2nd Provincial Meeting of Salesian Youth, characterized by moments of prayer, dialogue, and formation of young people.
02. Mumbai, India - August 2022 – On August 11, Fr. Biju Michael, Councilor for the Salesian South Asia Region, began the Extraordinary Visit to the "St. Francis Xavier" Province of India-Mumbai (INB). For three and a half months, Fr. Michael, on behalf of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, will visit homes and meet with the Salesians of the Province.
03. Mornese, Italy - August 2022 - On August 5, on the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, in the presence of the Institute's Mother General, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, and her sisters on the General Council, presided at the Eucharist in the Shrine of "Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello" in Mornese. During the Mass, four FMA made Perpetual Profession.
04. Guwahati, India - August 2022 - The joint meeting of the Provincial Delegates for Social Communication and for Formation of the South Asia Region was held from August 2 to 5. The meeting was attended by the General Councilors for Formation, Fr. Ivo Coelho, and for Social Communication, Fr. Gildasio Mendes, and by the Regional Delegates for Social Communication and Formation, Fr. K.M. Jose and Fr. Jose Koyichal.
05. Turin, Italy - August 2022 - About 800 young animators of the Salesian Youth Movement from Spain and Portugal participated in Campobosco 2022, a pilgrimage and discernment journey to the Salesian Sites. In the stops in Mornese, Turin and Valdocco, they were able to dialogue with the Mother General of the FMA, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, and the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Á.F. Artime, as well as some members of the General Council.
06. Melbourne, Australia - August 2022 - The Councilor for the East Asia-Oceania Region, Fr. Joseph Phuoc, arrived in Australia on August 22 to begin the Extraordinary Visit to the Province of Australia (AUL) on behalf of the Rector Major. Upon his arrival in Melbourne, Fr. Phuoc was welcomed by Fr. William Matthew, AUL Provincial, and Fr. Peter John Carroll, Provincial Economer.
07. Vatican City, Vatican - August 2022 - On August 3, at the end of the General Audience, Pope Francis extended a special greeting to the children who participated in the Estate Ragazzi at the Vatican, its Youth Summer Camp, thanking Fr. Franco Fontana, SDB, chaplain and coordinator of the initiative. This year there were 230 children enrolled, and it lasted five weeks. Photo © Vatican Media
08. Chimpay, Argentina - August 2022 - On Sunday, August 28, the traditional pilgrimage in honor of Blessed Ceferino Namuncurá took place in Chimpay. About 100,000 people filled the area known as the "Shrine," which houses the temple and hermitage with the statue of Ceferino Namuncurá, where every year hundreds of thousands of people pass through to pray to him, thank him for favors granted and ask for special graces.
