From August 23 to 26, the ESA Central Commission met in Santo Domingo to accompany, evaluate, reflect and plan the processes taking place in the different regions. The members of this commission are the referents of each Conference and of each Region. The work was presided by Sr. Ivone Goulart Lopes, ESA representative for the FMA, and Fr René Santos, ESA representative for the SDB Youth Ministry Department.
Several Conferences and Regions were represented in the city of Santo Domingo.
MESOAMERICA - CIMAC: Fr Héctor Ugarte, Sr. Arelys Paulino, Fr Carlos Alberto Montoya Manzo and Sister Altagrace Mathias; as invited guest, Fr William Batista, of the Dominican Republic;
ANDINA - CINAB: Dr. Elma Mireya Ardila and Sister Bertha Vivas;
CISBRASIL - CIB: Ana Paula Costa Silva and Sister Adair Sberga;
SEPSUR - CICSAL: Dr. Rossanna Benítez and Sister Patricia Parraguéz.
The training sessions had several speakers. A first message was sent by Fr Fabio Attard and Sr. Runita Borja, respectively SDB and FMA General Councilors for Youth Ministry.
Via videoconference, Fr Tarcizio Morais, from the SDB Youth Ministry Dicastery, then presented the theme: "Education in the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit". Sister Sberga, Sr. Goulart, Fr Montoya, Fr Santos and Fr Batista followed with a summary of the International Meeting of the International Office of Catholic Education (OIEC) held in New York last June. In this way, two fundamental orientations for ESA's work were addressed.
Furthermore, another of the topics discussed was: "The functions and the path of the ESA Central Commission."
Undoubtedly, a Salesian School in America that reflects, evaluates and plans will have clarity in its educational proposals that are at the service of young people wherever indeed the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in America are.
