"It is a beautiful gift for the jubilee," said the cardinal, referring to the traditional Schäffler dance. "It would have been liked by Don Bosco too, because of its jovial style." The cardinal then said that the Saint of Youth had understood that it was necessary to give concrete attention to people, and knew how to transmit the love of Jesus for people, not with the use of a methodology, but by moving forward towards the young and seeking every day to answer a simple question: "what can we do for them?"
This is why cardinal Marx re-proposed Don Bosco as a current model for the church, and told the Salesians: "I thank you sincerely for your work here of the last 100 years. And I hope you will stay for a long time yet."
"Long live Don Bosco. You are the hope of the young" sang the children and youth of the singing school choir during the next moment of celebration.
Later the community director, Fr Stefan Stöhr, thanked all those present and invited them to a moment of fraternal agape. The following children's musical show "the revenge of the hedgehog", directed by Maestro Stefan Ludwig, completed the festive Sunday.
Finally, it should be noted that on the occasion of the feast of Don Bosco and to celebrate 100 years of Salesian presence in the city, there had already been on the evening of Friday 1 February a celebratory evening with 250 guests; during the event the century of Salesian history was described and various political and religious authorities bore witness of the relevance and effectiveness of Salesian education.
Education, meeting, faith, a home for young people. This is what the Salesians in Monaco have been representing for a hundred years. And counting.
