(ANS - Nashik) - The 13th "National Boscoree", the mega-gathering of Scouts and Salesian guides from India, ended on Thursday 3 January 2019 with a final parade at the Salesian Institute of Philosophy of Divyadaan, at Nashik. Fr Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Councilor for the Salesian region of South Asia, presided over the closing ceremony.

During the five days of the Boscoree there were many different activities carried out by the participants. Following the typical Scout pedagogy, every day the boys and their educators animated the life of the camp, with its rhythms and rituals, prepared various wooden structures useful for play and organizing various activities.

Also, each topic of the guiding theme of the field - Health, Harmony, Holiness – was explored through both information sessions and the creation of artistic and cultural works.

All together, the participants waited for the arrival of the new year 2019 with a festive evening, then received a short spiritual input shortly after the stroke of midnight.

On the 1st of January, almost 5 thousand participants organized 20 adventure games, such as crossing rope bridges, climbing, running paths between tires ... In this way, the new year opened with fun and fostering harmony among the children and with nature.

The topical moment of the 13th National Boscoree was the great march for peace on the 2nd of January, opened by the famous Bollywood actor and sympathizer of the city's Salesian center, Boman Irani. "I have traveled the world. I have been in many places and I have seen many different cultures, but it is not frequent that I go to a place and see all the cultures of India gathered all together there," said the film star. Then he added: "Kids, please protect your innocence ... And build a better India, a harmonious India, a peaceful India."

During the parade the Scouts and guides, dressed in traditional clothes, through posters, banners and songs, brought a message of peace and harmony to the people of Nashik, emphasizing the value of peaceful coexistence as essential for the construction of the Indian nation. The long parade finished in the evening at the Salesian institute, where an interreligious prayer was recited.

On the last day, during the concluding activities, a research paper was presented on the children of immigrant construction workers in six cities of India, the work of Fr Ajoy Fernandes, Director of the Don Bosco Research Center (DBRC) in Mumbai.

Finally, after the greetings and thanks of the various public figures involved in the organization of Boscoree, Fr Kanaga gave three indications to Scouts and Salesian guides from India: "You are the future of the country, so it is your duty to be responsible, to take care of the environment and to cultivate the relationship with God."
