The Vice-Rector of the Mesoamerican University, based in Guatemala, Ana Cristina Estrada Quintero, highlighted the quality of the course contents and reports: "The presentations have been really enriching and I'm planning how to implement them in my institution. Knowing UCDB was very interesting and generated great openness, especially thanks to the experiences of the virtual lessons, tutorials and other interesting proposals," she said.
For his part, Fr Otekpo Dieudonné, Director of the Higher Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences of Togo, emphasised that "establishing relationships with other universities, as in the case of UCDB, constitutes a mutually enriching and important alliance. This course for executives was a high level and a useful proposal for our formation. The shared materials have deepened some elements for the management of the IUS of each country."
Despite the different realities of each country, the exchange of experiences is more valid than ever in these times. This was sustained by the Director General of the Salesian University Institute of Turin (IUSTO), Alessio Rocchi. "The exercise of management is often a solitary experience, so we greatly appreciate when we have the opportunity to listen to colleagues and learn about other contexts, because we reach a deeper knowledge and a broader experience. The course was also used to discuss alliances between IUS throughout the world."
Fr Marcelo Farfán, General Coordinator of the IUS, explained that "the course was designed for IUS managers and focuses on the management and exercise of the leadership of higher education institutions, in understanding the key elements that are needed today to understand education at that level. We do not focus solely on contents, but we offer a comprehensive experience for Salesian and lay leaders. Participating at this formation meeting were 34 people from the IUS, coming from three continents and interested in the possibility of fostering exchanges.”
The second module of this course takes place 23 to 27 September 2019 at the Salesian Polytechnic University of Quito, Ecuador.
