In its first evaluation report concerning the “Youth Guarantee” and the “Youth Employment Initiative”, in October, the European Commission underscored that these two interventions were both successful in contributing to the decrease of youth unemployment.
But what is the evaluation of an expert in the field of Technical-Vocational Training directly engaged in the process of such initiatives in Italy with regard to these measures and their efficacy in helping long-term unemployed youth to find a job?
The event of Tuesday, December 6th, aims precisely at answering these questions and at dealing with youth unemployment in Europe according to the perspective of the Catholic Church.
The workshop will be opened by Msgr. Adrianus van Luyn SDB, Bishop emeritus of Rotterdam and President emeritus of COMECE, e and by Fr. Enrico Peretti, President of CNOS-FAP (National Centre for Salesian Works - Vocational Updating & Training), the agency that coordinates Salesian Vocational Training in Italy.
Later on the speaker Ivan Toscano, expert on international cooperation of CNOS-FAP, will present his own experience concerning the implementation of “Youth Guarantee”.
Finally, through a round table, there will be a debate on “further measures needed to address long-term youth unemployment and the role of vocational training”. MEP Brando Benifei, co-president of the youth intergroup; Helen Hoffmann, advisor for social affairs to the European Commission; Tinkara Oblak of the European Youth Forum, will take part in the debate. Elżbieta Jakubek will act as moderator.
In the site of COMECE there is the possibility of registering within today, Monday December 5th, to participate in the debate.
