18 Catholic schools from all over Tripura with 750 students, teachers, principals, fathers, sisters, brothers and volunteers took part in this mega event of the Diocese. All the participants were accommodated in 36 class rooms in the school for three days. The last TCSACAGM was held in 2018 and due to Covid after a gap of 6 years once again this mega event brought together all the schools under the able guidance of Fr. Balan, the Diocesan Education Commission Secretary.
This mega event began on 12th January with arrival and registration of schools at 1:00 pm and the inaugural ceremony at 3:00 pm in the Don Bosco mini stadium of St. Xavier's School Pathaliaghat. During the inaugural ceremony, Ms. Dolly Reang, EM of TTAADC and Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, the principal of St. Xavier's School, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The theme for this year's TCSACAGM 2024 was: "Welcome to the Team: Not Me But we."
The inaugural ceremony began with words of welcome by Fr. Balan and a prayer dance by students of St. Joseph School Gokul Nagar. Thereafter, the Chief Guest Smt. Dolly Reang hoisted the flag which was followed by the mesmerizing inter school March-past by all the contingents from 18 schools accompanied by St. Xavier's School Band. It was very thrilling to see the students competing with each other while marching ahead in different colourful and attractive uniforms for the coveted First, Second and Third prizes.
While addressing the students Ms. Dolly Reang, shared some of her past experiences and fond memories of being a student and how the school has nurtured her to become what she is today. She thanked the organizers for inviting and giving her a chance to witness a mega event of this sort. Fr. Babu also addressed the students and encouraged everyone to give their best in every event that they took part in. He exhorted all to work together as a team.
The lighting of the sports torch and the oath taking ceremony set the tone for the day. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a few dances from St. Joseph School Gokul Nagar. This ceremony was followed by 100 mts and 200 mts heats for boys and girls. The opening day's programme ended with a breathtaking and enthralling inter school cultural dance competition in the school auditorium at 6:30 pm and dinner for all.
The second day witnessed a number of field events both individual and group simultaneously at different places. All the group events were very thrilling and kept everyone busy throughout the day. One could see the team spirit with which every school took part in all the events.There was lots of excitement and joy in the hearts of all while moving about encouraging and supporting one another. The efficiency of the organizers, the professionalism of referees of various events, dedication of school volunteers and the total collaboration and involvement teachers and students made the day's events go on so smoothly. All the events of day two ended with Group song competition in the school at 6:30 pm.
The third day which was a Sunday started with Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Babu Stephen in the chapel of the Hostel or all Catholic students, teachers and sisters. thereafter, the Relay race finals for girls and boys were held. Different group event finals also were held today in order to complete everything before the concluding ceremony .
At 6:30 pm the concluding ceremony began with Mr. Avula Reddy IPS, the DIG of Tripura as Chief Guest and Fr. George Jacob, the Holy Corss Education commission Secretary as Guest of Honour. The presence of many fathers, sisters and other invited guests made the concluding ceremony very solemn. At the beginning Fr. Balan welcomed all for the programme.
Both Chief Guest and Guest of Honour addressed the audience during programme. A few dances, singing from different schools and the band display from Karbook school were the highlight of the ceremony. Both individual and group event winners were awarded with Trophies, medals and certificates by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
At the end of three days of Inter School Sports Meet, Montfort School Champak Nagar with highest points lifted the TCSACAGM 2024 CHAMPION'S TROPHY. Fr. Balan proposed the vote of thanks in which he thanked everyone for their share and contribution for the success of this mega event. Special word of thanks to Fr. Babu Stephen for accommodation and hosting the event, Fr. Blasius Kujur who looked after the food for three days and the school volunteers and staff for their dedication.
