India – “A Resplendent Showcase of Faith” by the Salesian Province of Chennai

(ANS – Katpadi) – “Let’s Celebrate Faith” a creative and unique venture of the Salesian Province of Chennai was conceptualised and meticulously organized by “Deepagam”, the Evangelization and Catechetical Centre of the Chennai province. This monumental event was celebrated on 29 October, 2023 at Don Bosco, Katpadi for the Vellore region. More than 2000 participants which included children, youth, adults, Salesians and the Salesian Co-operators took part in this grant event.

The Rectors and the laity from the twelve presences in the Vellore region gathered under the guidance and leadership of Fr. Jesudoss, the Director of “Deepagam”. Fr. Sundar, Rector of Don Bosco, Katpadi looked into every detail for the resounding success of the event.

Fr. Don Bosco, Provincial of the Chennai Province declared this grand event open. He was accompanied by Fr. John Alex, Vice-Provincial, Provincial Councillors, Rectors and Leaders of Vellore Region. The purpose of the whole event was to rejuvenate the faith in the lives of the Christian faithful. The whole day was filled with praise and worship, moments of adoration, moments of reconciliation where several priests heard the confessions of the faithful. The afternoon event consisted of a tapestry of cultural shows, soul-stirring music, riveting Biblical characterizations, and captivating exhibitions, all expertly prepared and presented by the various communities hailing from the Vellore region. The whole afternoon was lively, colourful, entertaining and enjoyable.

The whole event culminated with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Don Bosco, Provincial and concelebrated by over 40 priests. Besides the participants, a large number of the religious, Salesian Cooperators and members of the Salesian Family joined the Eucharist with joy. Fr. Jesudoss preached the homily on the love of God and the love of neighbour. Every Christian family was given a Bible, the youth were provided with a youth Catechism and children were given a Children’s Catechism. As the event reached its conclusion, Fr. John Alexander, the Vice-Provincial, had the honour of announcing the next venue for the "Let's Celebrate Faith" extravaganza – an eagerly awaited rendezvous set to take place at the prestigious Sacred Heart College in Tirupattur.

“Let's Celebrate Faith” not only rekindled the flames of faith but also brought together a diverse tapestry of individuals in a celebration that will long be etched in the annals of spiritual history.
