(ANS - Brussels) - From 11 to 13 October 2023, the Principals of the schools of the "Don Bosco" network of France, Belgium-South, Morocco and Tunisia gathered for the traditional seminar at the beginning of the new academic year. A three-day itinerant seminar in Belgium, to rediscover and deepen Don Bosco's adage "honest citizens and good Christians. In the Wallonia-Brussels Federation - that is, the area corresponding to southern Belgium, an area as large as two French regions - there are no less than nine schools, including five "Don Bosco Institutes", which are frequented by almost 6,000 young people every year: an unparalleled concentration!
(ANS – New Rochelle) - More than 340 million women and girls will live in extreme poverty by 2030 and close to one in four will experience moderate or severe food insecurity, according to the recent “Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The gender snapshot 2023” report released by UN Women and United Nations Department on Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
(ANS – Rome) – The missionary reflection for the 11th of the month by the General Councillor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, in October, missionary month, focuses on how to fully appreciate what each individual can give, to various extent and in various ways, in order to contribute to the mission, to the building of the Kingdom, and to a personal and community approach to God.
(ANS – New Rochelle) - Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in honoring International Day of the Girl on Oct. 11. The day, first held in 2012, was established to promote equal treatment and opportunities for girls and is an acknowledgment by the world that there is a disparity in the way rights of girls and boys are protected and promoted.
