SPECIAL REPORTS
(ANS - Quito) - "I'm afraid that they will take us away from here because we are undocumented (...) I'm afraid that the situation in my Country will not be solved, that we will not be able to return to our families," says Brangely, a Venezuelan migrant living in Colombia. She, like hundreds of thousands of other migrants, left her native country in search of better opportunities, putting her life and that of her family at risk, leaving everything behind her.
(ANS - Buenos Aires) - In the Gospel according to Luke, the first and last words that Jesus pronounces during his life refer to the Father (2,49; 23,46). No wonder: the two have a special relationship! He is "the" Son (Mt 11,27; Mk 13,32; Lk 10,22; Jn 5:19) and the Father is "his" (Mt 16,17; Lk 22,29; Jn 5,17). Christ is so sure of being the only Son, loved and chosen by the Father (Mt 3,17; Mk 1,11; Lk 3,22; Jn 10,17) that, with unusual familiarity, he calls him "Abbà" (Mk 14, 36): “Dad”.
(ANS – New Rochelle) – When the global COVID-19 pandemic struck and countries began lockdowns, Salesian missionaries around the globe went into action ensuring that those who were impacted in their local communities had the food and hygiene supplies they needed. Missionaries also quickly began to shift how they worked with poor children and their families, including working to provide education online when possible. To aid these efforts, significant funding was needed.
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in celebrating World Environment Day held annually on June 5. This year, World Environment Day marks the official launch of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a 10-year drive to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems worldwide. The initiative will “draw together political support, scientific research and financial muscle to scale up restoration and revive millions of hectares of land and marine ecosystems.” Salesian missionaries have an ongoing focus on the environment in their organizations around the globe. And in honor of World Environment Day, Salesian Missions is proud to highlight Salesian green and restoration efforts in countries around the globe.
