A unique event, scheduled from 3 to 6 October 2019 at the Institute, its theme “Youth agriculture between present and future” which will allow students of the Salesian Agricultural Schools from all over the world to meet to get to know each other and discuss a variety of topics to generate an international network of young farmers who, in the spirit of Don Bosco, can contribute to a sustainable future of agriculture, respecting the nature of the land and peoples, as the Holy Father himself wished to indicate in the encyclical letter "Laudato Si". "Nothing in this world should be indifferent to us" (Pope Bergoglio).
The schools in the first edition of Expo Lombriasco 2019 shall represent a significant overview of the reach of the Salesian message and work in and across the globe. The Salesian agricultural schools of Argentina, Ghana, France, Ireland and Italy will be present at the event as will other Italian and Piedmontese schools (including non-Salesians).
The event's objective will be to develop, with the whole network of Salesian schools, cultural, educational and social exchanges, technical-scientific collaborations and business opportunities dedicated to products and services. The central topic of the fair will be "innovation and sustainability in agriculture"; the participating schools will present projects on this topic that will be evaluated and awarded by a Commission of experts.
The event takes place also thanks to the fundamental support of local companies and institutions and, in particular, to the support of the many entrepreneurs of the Salesian School of Lombriasco who enthusiastically joined the project. Don Bosco is the most well-known and loved social saint in the world for the values transmitted to young people such as honesty, reliability and work. With faith, determination and goodwill, he supported and spread these values on all continents with the power of trust towards others that we now too desire and wish, in our own small way, to continue to nurture, bringing together in a feast of good and healthy energy the future protagonists of agriculture.
