The General Chapter opened with three days of spiritual retreat, preached by Fr Zdzisław Qiyas OFM Conv., Speaker of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the first days of the Chapter they also made a pilgrimage to some of the holy places associated with their founder, Blessed Bronislaw Marckiewicz, who had been a professed Salesian.
On 18 April they began the process of discernment for the election of the Superior General. After the election of P. Wilk, they proceeded to elect the other members of the new General Council:
- P. Rafał Kaminski - Vicar General
- P. Jerzy Sosinski - General Councillor and Economer
- P. Marek Czaja - General Councillor
- P. Stanislav Kilar - General Counsel.
The Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel, founded in 1921 by Blessed Markiewicz, is the 21st group of the Salesian Family, formally recognised as such on 24 January 2000.
