The Rector Major spent the rest of the day with the Salesians working in Liberia, sharing his thoughts and listening to the confreres. He said that everything was very beautiful but meeting with the confreres at this moment is the most important moment. He exhorted the Salesians to continue being serene and enthusiastic about the Salesian mission and he reminded them of some of the most important convictions. He said that the reality of the Salesian mission is the work of education and evangelisation and invited the Salesians to make this a reality in Liberia.
He also highlighted the various challenges the congregation faces today, exhorted the confreres to develop a deep interior life, to uphold a strong sense of the divine, the communitarian character of the mission, the fraternal life, and to maintain the predilection for the poorest of the poor.
The Rector of the community thanked the Rector Major for his visit to Liberia and for his intervention during the crisis of Ebola. He said that they were trying times but the closeness and the support of the Rector Major and the whole congregation was tangibly felt.
Later in the evening Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime and his entourage were accompanied to the airport on their way to Accra, Ghana.
