In his conference, he talked about his visits and the challenges of the Salesian communities in Sudan, Yemen, Pakistan and Mongolia. He also affirmed the missionary zeal of the Philippine Southern Province and encouraged them not to lose it.
The Rector Major challenged all the Salesians to continue the mission of Don Bosco. He said that Salesians are much appreciated globally because they go to places where nobody else wants to go and, moreover, make an option for the poor. In the later part of the conference, the Rector Major gave four challenges to the Salesians: live our consecration and carry out the mission not as a social worker; safeguard fraternal life; have a special love for the poor; and lastly stay humble and do not seek power.
After the Rector Major’s meeting with the Provincial Council, he proceeded to Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine making a brief stop at Don Bosco Technology Centre. He then presided at the Mass attended by the Salesian Family. Next came dinner at the Youth Centre, punctuated by cultural dances presented by students of the parish.
Finally, he left for Boys’ Home, Liloan after 9.00 p.m. The boys were waiting anxiously for him despite the late hour of his arrival.
