Sierra Leone – The Rector Major meets the Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils and Confreres

02 February 2016

(ANS - Freetown) - On the evening of Sunday 31 January, the Rector Major met the Salesian Cooperators and the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, and spoke of his joy at the celebration of the Eucharist that morning.  Yesterday, Monday 1 February, the Rector Major went to the beach with the Confreres from Sierra Leone and held a dialogue with them.

Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, on behalf of all the Salesians, thanked the Salesian Cooperators and the Past Pupils for all they have done and are doing to spread the mission of Don Bosco. He urged them to be people of great courage and to pray for their dream of establishing a university to come true.

Then he went on to say: "as the Salesian Family we  are one body; if there were only the Salesians of Don Bosco the body would not be complete. There must be all the parts of the body for it to be complete because they need each other and complement each other." He also thanked the volunteers who assist and accompany the work of the Salesians, sacrificing time and energy for this.

The day finally ended with a rosary procession, which ended in front of a statue of Our Lady.

Yesterday, in his meeting with the Confreres, the Rector Major told them that the congregation is blessed by their work, that the Salesians in Sierra Leone share in the success of the entire congregation, in this way encouraging everyone to continue their work.

Finally, Fr Á.F. Artime reminded the Salesians not to lose the sense of community life and said that Don Bosco is certainly happy to see that most of the Salesian work in the country is dedicated to those most in need.
