Speakers include Hon. Andrea Orlando, Italy's Minister of Justice, and Mgr. Francesco Marino, bishop of Nola diocese. The new rooms, dedicated to the first Neapolitan "street urchin" welcomed by Don Bosco in Turin, have been renovated with the help of Salesians for Social Service - SCS /CNOS Federation, the Salesian organization committed to the fight against alienation and youth marginalization in Italy. The community will be managed by the Salesian Association "Piccoli passi grandi sogni, or small steps, big dreams", a non-profit organization which for many years has been welcoming minors at risk in the "Mamma Matilde" house, also in Torre Annunziata.
"In the wake of that first boy welcomed by Don Bosco and Mamma Margaret in the house at Valdocco, we still want to be the home of the homeless by opening the 'Peppino Brancati' community," says Fr Antonio Carbone, its director. "In a territory marked by strong social problems and delinquency issues, we are happy to expand our Salesian prevention and recovery activities through the Oratory, the Youth Center and the two communities."
