The IUS General Coordination organ has currently opened a competition for the design of a new logo. The contest is one of the decisions of the 7th General Assembly, held in Rome, July 2016. The purpose of the competition is to update and renew the logo, both in content and graphically, and to create a current, original and unpublished design that shall become the representative image of the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education worldwide.
“More than 20 years of service to young people have been rendered by our universities, and IUS presents itself in the best possible manner. In the current perspective, and wishing to improve the IUS's corporate image, this proposal was presented,” said IUS General Coordinator, Fr Marcelo Farfán. “Having a logo is essential because it goes beyond plain and simple image.”
The deadline for submitting designs is July 15, 2017. The jury that will select the winning logo will be formed by members of the Dicastery for Youth Ministry, the Department of Social Communication, a graphic artist and a university professor completely foreign to the IUS world. The outcome of the competition will be published in a statement sent to all IUS representatives and through our agency (ANS). The winner will be notified by email and will receive a diploma and a prize of $500.
IUS are Institutes of Higher Education, of Christian inspiration, which are Catholic, and Salesian in spirit. Ties with the Church (whether it be universities that are Pontifical, Catholic, or Christian-inspired) and with the Salesian Congregation (there are those owned, those entrusted to it, and those shared with other entities), as well as the titles issued, depend on the local contexts in which they operate.
