He first greeted the 590 students of the Salesian Agricultural and Technical Institute (IATESA). Subsequently, he participated in a moment of fraternal and informal sharing with his fellow Salesians - "a time of authentic communion like a father with his children," they said.
The morning continued with another important and significant moment: the renewal of vows by the Salesians around the Successor of Don Bosco. This was followed by an intense and fruitful dialogue in which the Sons of Don Bosco throughout the Dominican Republic were able to talk with an open heart with the Rector Major. The Eucharist followed.
Later in the afternoon, Fr Á.F. Artime, accompanied by his secretary, Fr Horacio López, and by the Provincial of the Antilles, Fr Francisco Batista, reached the city of Moca about 20 km from La Vega. Here the Salesians have charge of an important shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as well as an oratory and an elementary and middle school.
The Rector Major presided at the Mass with about 40 priests and then in the evening he moved to Jarabacoa.
