The Salesian Network of Schools was born with the proposal to form an education network that gathered in a joint project over one hundred schools of Brazil that share the Salesian Pastoral-Educative Project.
The schools of the network share the common target of providing an integral education and of forming citizens with such a degree of instruction and form that enables them to critically understand the society in which they live and to act according to certain principles. Since its institution, the network involved the schools run by SDBs, FMAs and associated institutions.
In the course of its history, the network invested in the creation of its own didactic material and has developed a digital platform compatible with today’s educational needs. Besides, as an essential element, it provides teachers with a continuous formation.
After 15 years, it can now be considered as the largest network among the Catholic and, above all, the educational networks of America, since it gathers about 5.000 teachers and 80.000 students in over one hundred educational institutes.
Furthermore, this schools network has offered a model of work that Salesians and FMAs now also apply in social activities. At present, over one hundred social projects all over the country share their experiences and operate in an efficient way through “RSB-Social”. Superior (post-graduate) Education, another important element of the Salesian educational offer has also been organized in a network. And the same proposal is also being implemented in the field of communication, so as to integrate the diverse expressions of the Salesian charism in Brazil.
The changes in RSB-Escolas go beyond its name. From this coming February, a new web portal of “Rede Salesiana Brasil”, that links the various networks and Salesian services in the country will also be operational.
