This year, around 2,000 participants aged 16 to 25 are expected to join the event, themed “Trust – In Him, We Are the Future”, which brings together the core messages of this year’s pastoral campaigns.
The gatherings will take place in various regions of Spain and be structured across three levels, according to the age group of participants. There will also be opportunities for families to take part, including the option to experience Easter while walking the Camino de Santiago.
Salesian houses have embraced the Lenten season as a special time of spiritual preparation for Easter. Initiatives such as “It’s Time to Get in Shape” and the “Spiritual Formation Plan” were offered to young people in schools, youth centers, and social platforms. In addition to educational centers, parishes have also provided spaces for prayer, reflection, and the sacrament of reconciliation.
Further initiatives have included Spiritual Retreats for religious and lay members of the Salesian Family, as well as Christian fellowship days for animators and educators. Some retreats will continue after Holy Week, with a few taking place online.
Another increasingly popular experience is the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, which includes students and teachers from various schools. Pilgrims come from Salesian centers in Salamanca, Ciudad Real, Madrid, Córdoba, and Cartagena, among others.
Several Salesian houses will also stage Passion plays, such as “Agnus Dei” at the Teatro de los Remedios in Seville, and “La Pasión”, a production that has marked Holy Week in Huesca for over 70 years.
Additionally, 29 brotherhoods connected to Salesian houses will take part in Easter processions in cities such as Alcalá de Guadaíra, Algeciras, Alicante, Cádiz, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Elche, Granada, Jerez, La Línea, Mataró, Malaga, Montilla, Palma del Río, Seville, and Utrera.
The events of the Salesian Easter will be shared on social media with the hashtag #PascuaSalesiana, and content related to the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of the Lord will be published from different Salesian environments.
A special Easter hymn has also been produced and is available on YouTube and Spotify.
