Law No. 55 introduced essential regulations concerning the organization of pedagogical and educational professions, including the creation of professional registers for pedagogists and professional socio-pedagogical educators. However, in order for UPS graduates to access these registers, a specific ministerial provision was required to certify the university’s international scientific relevance.
The recognition process was led by a commission appointed by the Rector, Prof. Fr. Andrea Bozzolo, and included Fr. Bozzolo himself, Fr. Jaroslaw Rochowiak, and Dr. Francesco Langella, who also represented the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences “Auxilium” of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The work began in May 2024, and the formal request was submitted to the Ministry in June.
After the necessary evaluation process, on March 13, 2025, the Minister of University and Research, Hon. Anna Maria Bernini, signed the decree, which was published in the Official Gazette (No. 79) on April 4.
As a result, the Baccalaureate and Licentiate degrees awarded by UPS, mentioned in Article 9 of Law 55, are now officially recognized as valid qualifications for entry into the relevant professional registers.
This recognition carries significant implications for all current and future graduates of the Pontifical Salesian University, granting them full legal legitimacy to practice in the fields of education and pedagogy, both in Italy and internationally. It also further enhances the global prestige of the Salesian academic institution.
Registration procedures for the professional registers will continue in accordance with the provisions set by the law and forthcoming regulations.
The issuance of this ministerial decree marks a major achievement for UPS and the field of Educational Sciences, reaffirming the value of Salesian education in the international academic landscape.
