A small flower for a big gesture of solidarity—this is the essence of the “Don Bosco’s Violets” event, promoted by the Salesians for Social network. In 11 different regions of Italy, volunteers will offer the traditional violet plant to support educational projects for children, teenagers, and young people in need.
By purchasing a Don Bosco’s Violet, supporters can contribute to the activities of over 80 Salesian centers across Italy, which assist more than 1,300 minors daily. This initiative provides concrete help to those facing hardship, at risk of dropping out of school, or in need of a safe and supportive environment for their growth.
"Our network is at the forefront of providing educational and developmental opportunities for the most vulnerable young people. Through this initiative, we aim to engage local communities in a simple yet powerful act: supporting those most in need," said Fr. Francesco Preite, President of Salesians for Social APS. "Every violet flower donated is a tangible sign of hope and support for younger generations, ensuring that no child feels alone or abandoned."
Don Bosco’s message continues to live on through the daily dedication of Salesian educators, volunteers, and all those committed to caring for vulnerable youth. As Don Bosco himself said: "Doing good is like the violet flower: a flower that may not be seen, but whose fragrance is felt by all."
With this spirit in mind, everyone can contribute—a small gesture, like purchasing a violet flower, can help build a brighter future for many young people.
