During the training days organised by the Vatican Dicastery for Communication and the Vatican Pontifical Mission Societies, 27 participants - priests, nuns and seminarians from all over the world - had the opportunity to develop their skills in communication and evangelisation in the digital world. As part of the ‘Comunicare la fede’ course, the Don Bosco Mobile Journalism module, which provided practical knowledge of modern mobile journalism, attracted particular attention.
Under the watchful eye of experts Fr Maciej Makula SDB and Aleksandra Stankiewicz - TV journalist and content creator, participants practised interviews, photography, filming and video editing, everything needed to become a digital missionary. It was an extremely valuable opportunity to learn about tools and methods for effectively communicating the Gospel on the Internet and social media.
During the workshop, participants learned the key principles of storytelling to make stories engaging and authentic. One of the most exciting moments was recording interviews – for some participants, it was their first time in front of a camera, and the results were impressive! They also practised mobile editing, enabling them to create and share content instantly.
One participant summed up the experience this way: ‘DBMoJo caught our attention in a very special way. It was an extremely practical module, excellently presented by competent teachers. We congratulate and encourage further training of priests and religious to become digital missionaries.’
This training is part of a wider initiative called DBMoJo, a new platform created by the Salesian Communication Sector. DBMoJo is more than just a course on journalism – it’s a movement empowering young creatives to tell meaningful stories, educate, and build bridges across communities.
Mobile journalism is gaining traction around the world. With the easy availability of smartphones and social media, anyone can become a reporter, documenting important events and sharing inspiring stories. In many places where traditional media is limited, mobile journalists are filling the information gap, giving a voice to those who often go unnoticed. Mobile journalism plays a key role in helping young people use technology to evangelise and positively impact society.
In this age of digital transformation, DBMoJo is becoming a key tool for those who want to use the media to spread a positive message.
“We encourage you to visit the platform and join the global movement of digital missionaries! Don't wait - go to DBMoJo.org and become part of the digital revolution in evangelisation! The digital mission field is vast, and the tools are in your hands – don’t miss this opportunity!”
