Fr. Javier Ortiz, Provincial of the Salesians in Bolivia, said: “The idea is not only to sell books, but to make ourselves known as a society, to place ourselves as a brand; in this way we can attract work to our printing house, such as graphic services, and thus strengthen our publishing house”.
In this perspective, four new bookstores have been opened: in the “Don Bosco” school of Cochabamba and in the “Don Bosco” house of Santa Cruz. Two more are planned: one located in the house of “Proyecto Don Bosco” in Santa Cruz and one in the centre of Cochabamba.
“Editorial Don Bosco” has three branches, two of them in El Alto and another in the “Don Bosco” school of La Paz. At present, the publishing house produces about 450 thousand units of books for the various levels of the Bolivian educative system, with a distribution at national level and in respect of existing norms.
Another target of the publishing house is to provide graphic services, and this shows the potentiality of the machinery and the experience of the workers of the house. “Being open to and improving the publishing world is a challenge to the Salesians, to the Rectors and to all educative communities. We hope to grow so as to contribute to culture, to the strengthening of the publishing and printing house and above all to make ourselves known as an educative institution that offers culture”, Fr. Ortiz explained.
