On Thursday 23 January, at 5:30 pm, at the Sant'Agostino theatre, Siena will once again host the conference "If I say minors. Dreams and reality", which for this fourth edition will be hosted by Fr Luigi Ciotti, President of "Libera", an association against mafias. Among the other personalities expected will be Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice, Archbishop of Siena – Colle – Montalcino; Fr Roberto Colameo, Superior of the Salesian Central Italy Circumscription (ICC), and Dr Sandro Iannini, ICC Delegate for Marginalisation and Disadvantage. The event is promoted by the Salesians Don Bosco in Colle and the Archdiocese in collaboration with the Fondazione Territori Sociali Alta Valdelsa (FTSA) and with the patronage of the Municipality of Colle, the AGESCI Siena-Toscana area and the AGESCI Val D’Elsa 1.
The conference will be a valuable opportunity to reflect on issues related to the protection, reception and future of minors, through an open dialogue with Don Ciotti, a leading figure in the commitment to social justice and the rights of the most vulnerable.
But the most important aspect is that it has already been announced that an important project for Colle Val d 'Elsa will be presented: the opening of a semi-residential facility designed to support the response to the growing requests for help from services and institutions, offering support to children and adolescents who live in situations of disadvantage and suffering.
The facility will be a safe and encouraging place, aimed at promoting their well-being and development of their potential, in collaboration with families and the local social network. Once again, the educational zeal of the Salesians of Don Bosco shines through. They have always been a strong, open, inclusive body free from prejudice, in the heart of the town.
"A project supported by many lay people and religious who want to once again provide an extra opportunity for the younger generations" the promoters of the initiative say. "It is the very dream of Don Bosco in his educational humanism to make today's young people the upright citizens of tomorrow. The conference will therefore be an opportunity for discussion on fundamental issues for the future, to build new synergies and paths of shared responsibility on behalf of the new generations."
