The presentation featured two main segments: a forum with five young participants from the Synod and workshops led by the same five individuals, each accompanied by a Salesian or FMA sister who also participated in the event.
During the forum, a video showcased key moments from the Salesian Youth Synod, setting the stage for the young participants to introduce themselves: Diletta Ferri (Italy), Maria Meccariello (Italy), Teaghan Dolan (Australia), Juan Sebastian Moya Sandoval (Colombia), and Pablo Osorio Delgado (Spain). They answered specific questions that allowed them to share valuable reflections and insights:
Maria described the Synod as a poignant experience, highlighting the unity among young people, driven by the same Salesian charism and a genuine desire to encounter the Lord, despite cultural and linguistic differences. The moment of adoration became an experience of true fraternity before God, where hearts united in silent prayer filled with love.
Sebastian expressed his hope of finding a space where young people could freely voice their opinions and seek solutions to shared concerns. The Synod exceeded his expectations, filled with deep, enriching dialogues, active listening, and a strong sense of solidarity among participants.
Pablo spoke about his inspirations, noting Don Bosco’s self-sacrifice for youth, his belief in their dreams, and his ability to instill hope. He also highlighted Mother Mazzarello’s vision of holiness, rooted in total dedication to others, emphasizing that both figures serve as beacons of inspiration capable of changing the world, starting with those in need.
Diletta shared the beauty of working on the Instrumentum Laboris, where young people's dreams for themselves, the Church, and society were gathered and refined through their experiences. One dream that resonated with her was the call for a Church and Salesian family that fully supports young people in every aspect of their lives.
Teaghan emphasized the familial nature of the Salesian charism, urging the Salesian Family to maintain its familial aspect as young people transition into adulthood. As youth needs evolve, so too should the Salesian Family in how it accompanies them through various life stages.
The forum concluded with a heartfelt encouragement from the young participants to the Salesian Family, urging it to be a welcoming house, an evangelizing Church, a school that educates for life, and a playground for friendship and joy. This way, their dreams can become hopes anchored in Christ, present in the lives of young people, making them true pilgrims together.
After singing and dancing to “In the Shape of Your Dream,” the official hymn of the Salesian Youth Synod, all participants moved to their respective workshops in their own languages.
Each workshop was led by a young participant alongside a Salesian or FMA sister, including Sr. Michela Consolandi, Sr. Herlinda Palomino, Sr. Laura Marcela Melara Cordova, Fr. Francisco Cervantes, and Fr. Joebeth Vivo.
The workshop themes chosen by the young people included: Faith and Relationship with Christ, Salesian Spirituality and Holiness, Listening to Young People, Youth Protagonism, and the Church and the Salesian Family as Credible Guides.
Overall, the forum and workshops provided wonderful opportunities for the Salesian Family to recognize and value the voices of young people in the Salesian Youth Movement. The experience was enriching and inspiring, planting seeds of hope in the hearts and minds of all participants. These dreams of young people will surely anchor the entire Salesian Family in Christ during this Jubilee year, fostering true pilgrimage together.
